ABOUT S.T.E.M. Overnight Field Trips

AA offers three overnight STEM trips allowing students a chance to explore an environment unlike anything in Colorado, while also introducing them to a variety of STEM fields. They also offer a number of personal benefits, including but are not limited to, an increase in their personal, social and emotional development. These trips urge critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills. They can also lead to a deeper understanding of challenging concepts, all while providing a context for learning in many areas in and out of the classroom. Over the past decade, more than 3500 AA middle school students have had the opportunity to experience a classroom without walls, while building relationships and memorable experiences lasting a lifetime.

My name is Chris Todd and I am the STEM Trip Coordinator at American Academy. I have worked at American Academy since 2005, starting out as a lead for the first grade team at Castle Pines. I joined the STEM department when the Motsenbocker campus opened in 2013, teaching pre-K – 5th grade engineering and robotics. I began my current role a few years ago, and I am currently just overseeing the trips. I am excited to share these opportunities with you and your family, and look forward to working with you in making these trip experiences a reality.
