Only middle school students (grade 6-8) have summer history assignments. Assignments are listed below by grade.
Grade 6
6th grade students will need to memorize the list (below) of geographical features using a map over the summer, and will be assessed on these topics when they return to school. They will be expected to label a blank map with each feature, and spelling will be counted.
-The following regions of the world:
North America, Central America, The Caribbean, South America, Europe, Africa, The Middle East, Asia, Australia, and Antarctica
-The Prime Meridian (including coordinates)
-The Equator (including coordinates)
-The Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn (including coordinates)
-The 5 Oceans (Atlantic, Pacific, Arctic, Indian and Southern)
-The Arctic and Antarctic Circles (including coordinates)

Grade 7 and Grade 8
History Summer Work for 7th and 8th grade will be on Google Classroom this year. Parents and students, check your email from Ms. Shaffer for the code to access the Google Classroom. This Classroom will not be monitored over the summer.
Instructions to access Google Classroom from a Personal Device
- From your device, open the Google Chrome browser
- In the URL, enter classroom.google.com
- Enter the student's AAK8 email address
- Enter the student's AAK8 Google Password
- Click the + sign in the top right corner to Join a Class
- Enter the code from the email
- Click JOIN
UPDATE JUNE 9, 2025
The IT Department purged all student emails and files from Google MyDrive between June 2 - June 8.
An email communication was sent to all students in May prior to the end of school so they were aware this action would be taken.
The Summer Assignment email communication to students will be resent so they will have the instructions in their Inbox.
If you had begun the summer homework in Google Classroom prior to the file deletions on June, your files are still available and can accessed using one of the ways listed below --
