The Castle Pines campus is excited to promote our AA Character Traits of Compassion and Generosity by partnering with an amazing foundation called A Precious Child.
The Mission of A Precious Child is to provide children in need with opportunities and resources to empower them to achieve their full potential. This year, their goal is to serve 10,000 children in need with their holiday wishes. Every child deserves to experience the joy of the holidays and you can help them feel the excitement of the holiday season.
This incredibly important event will happen between November 18th and December 11th. In order for us to ensure that every age group is covered, we have broken up the focus of our grades into the following:
-
Kindergarten through 5th grade students are encouraged to bring in a new, unwrapped gift for a student of their own age and gender.
-
6th graders can bring in unwrapped toys for any middle school aged students.
-
7th & 8th graders can focus on bringing in unwrapped toddler toys.
Students will bring the toys to their homeroom. Do NOT bring them to the places that are listed on the A Precious Child website. We will collect the toys at school and deliver them to the distribution facility.
Since this is such an important event, we will encourage this giving opportunity with an incentive. If the number of toys donated in their homeroom are equal to or greater than 85% of the number of students in that class, that homeroom gets a dress of choice on Tuesday, January 7th. We will send an email to the specific homerooms that earn this prize. In addition, the Elementary School homeroom that collects the highest % of toys will receive a popcorn party. The Middle School homeroom that collects the highest % of toys will receive a donut party. Even though we all love to “win” any competition presented, please think about a gift that you would buy for your child or a niece and nephew. (Bringing in 10 “matchbox cars” will not count as 10 gifts but will be bundled and counted as 1 gift). Also, no weapon type toys will be permitted, i.e. Nerf guns or plastic swords etc.
