Kristin Caid
Kristin Caid is the mother of three American Academy students and has been an American Academy parent for the last 6 years. She has lived Douglas County since 2002, though she grew up mostly in Utah where her father was stationed with the United States Air Force. After graduating from high school, Kristin attended Wake Forest University for her undergraduate degree and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for her law degree. She moved back to Colorado in 2001 because she missed the West and all it has to offer and is now a partner with Kutak Rock LLP, a law firm in downtown Denver. She practices law exclusively in the area of public finance, primarily working with hospitals and other non-profit organizations to issue tax-exempt bonds. In fact, she worked on the transaction for American Academy’s third campus! Kristin's family includes Brett, her significant other, and his two children, so between work and five children, she stays pretty busy! But in her spare time she enjoys running, rock climbing, hiking, skiing and reading.
Laura Jensen
Laura Jensen is currently the Executive Vice President of a financial services company based in San Diego, CA. Laura has spent many hours volunteering to provide financial literacy and education both for, and in conjunction with, many federal legislators, regulators and consumer advocacy groups. She attended The University of Northern Colorado where she received her BA in Political Science in 1999. Laura has been a strong advocate for choice programming in the Douglas County School District and is a firm believer in the STEM programming as a foundation for success. She is a native Coloradan who has lived in Parker for the past 10 years with her husband and son Britton, a 6th grader at the American Academy - Parker campus.
Melissa Sitzmann
Melissa is an 8th grade Science Teacher at Ranch View Middle School in Highlands Ranch. She has a bachelors degree in Biology and obtained her secondary education certification from the University of West Florida. Before moving into education, she worked in sales, management and human resources for an international bank both in their North America and London headquarters. She and her husband Ryan have twin second graders (Cohen and Delaney) at the Castle Pines campus.
Michelle Slovensky (SAC Chair)
Michelle is a senior strategic leader in the role of Energy Program Manager at the Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). Michelle implements energy, natural resource, and high performance building projects that assist both federal government and the energy industry in establishing a research campus that supports environmental, social, and financial values that can be replicated in facilities throughout the nation. As a spokesperson and educator for the laboratory she conducts education workshops for other federal/state agencies, fortune 500 companies, incubators and universities. Michelle, her husband George and daughter Danika live in Castle Rock. Danika attends 1st grade at the Castle Pines campus.
Jonathon Fung
Jonathan M. Fung is a principal and financial advisor with Bernstein Private Wealth Management, a professional role that has provided him with many community connections over the years. He has also served as a volunteer on a number of other non-profit boards, primarily assisting with fundraising guidance or on finance and budget committees. His board experience includes Denver YMCA, Colorado Planned Giving Roundtable, ARCA (non-profit focused on enhancing lives of adults with disabilities), Ascend Performing Arts, and Denver Active 20/30 Foundation. One of his primary areas of interest on our SAC is to work on increasing teacher compensation and he looks forward to working with his fellow SAC members to ensure that American Academy continues to set the bar high for our students and staff for many years to come.

Angela Fleming
Angela Fleming is so excited to be working with this wonderful group of volunteers. She graduated in 2001 from Texas Tech University with a BBA in Finance. In her time at American Academy she has been a parent volunteer both in and out of the classroom and for the past few years she has served as the AAPTO-CP Board President. Angela has two incredible children, Elway and Layla.
Michael Buehler
Michael Buehler's has volunteered for the past few years on the AAPTO-PKR as VP of Fundraising Programs. Michael loves supporting the school and helping the PTO be even more successful. He and wife, Danielle, have two daughters, Anne and Samantha. They have lived in Parker with their Labradoodle for three years and love American Academy. Michael has a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science and is a Senior Professional Services Consultant with Splunk. In his spare time he loves to golf, ski, and spend time with family.

Dr. Brandon Linn
Dr. Linn is an orthodontist here in Douglas County. His practice, Brandon Linn Orthodontics, has office locations in Castle Pines North, Highlands Ranch, and Lone Tree. Dr. Linn and his wife Lisa live in Castle Pines North and have three children: two daughters and a son. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with this family, telemark skiing, running and mountain biking.

Karen Liotta
Karen was born and raised in Colorado and has lived here all of her life. She enjoys boating, camping, and four-wheeling with her husband and her three kids. She has a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and a master’s degree in School Counseling. In the past, she has taught math and been a school counselor at the high school level. In 2014, she joined the American Academy family and couldn’t be happier!
Kristen Krieger
Growing up as one of the oldest in a family of six, Kristen began “teaching” her younger siblings about many of the best known lessons in life (everything from how to make mom think you brushed your teeth to riding a bicycle). She knew she was destined for a career working with children. She received her master’s degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Colorado at Denver. Before American Academy, she worked at Graland Country Day School and in the Cherry Creek School District. She and her husband have two boys and one girl who continue to teach us life lessons on a daily basis.
Melissa Jones
Melissa is originally from Wisconsin and moved to Colorado many years ago to become a teacher. She lives in Parker with her husband and three children. They enjoy family time visiting the beautiful Colorado mountains and watching the many sports their children participate in. Her favorite place to be is on a beach listening to the waves. She enjoys teaching at American Academy in second grade, finds it so rewarding to watch the students in her class become lifelong learners.

Amanda Lane-Cline
Amanda is the author and director of our unique STEM Discovery Week program, and manages our math program and our science curriculum to ensure they support the STEM-related aspects of the school’s mission. Before moving to Colorado, Amanda was the Coordinator of Curriculum Design for the Public Education and Risk Communication Division of the Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences Institute in New Jersey. There, she directed programs for multimedia curriculum development. She received her Masters of Public Health degree in Health Education and Behavioral Science from the Rutgers/The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, and her Bachelors degree in Natural Science/Microbiology from the University of Louisiana-Lafayette. Amanda takes K-8 STEM education to a whole new level at American Academy.
