Parents may attend Board of Directors meetings any time and are welcome to request agenda items for these meetings (please download the Submission for Agenda Consideration Form or to participate in the public comment agenda item of any meeting. Public comment issues will either be answered on the spot or will be addressed at the next meeting. For more information on the appropriate forum for specific issues, please refer to the Parent Communication Policy. We are committed to making sure issues from our parents get addressed in a positive, and timely manner.

The role of the Board of Directors is to uphold the mission, vision, and policies of the school as well as oversight of financial matters. We are committed to making sure issues from our parents get addressed in a positive, and timely manner. Alison Rausch, President
Alison Rausch
Alison grew up in Northern California and obtained a BS in Economics from Santa Clara University. After a career with a home builder/developer, she stayed at home with her two children. Alison, her husband, Carl, and their two children moved to Colorado in 2003. She and Carl now operate their own business in Douglas County. Their oldest, Katie started at American Academy as a Kindergartener in its first year and Eric started in 2008. Alison has been involved with AA since its opening, serving on both the PTO Board and PAB.
Chrissy DeMier, Vice President
Chrissy DeMier was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. After obtaining a Bachelor of Business Administration, Finance from The College of William and Mary, Chrissy returned to Colorado and began working for her father’s company which publishes college textbooks. Chrissy has worked all aspects of the company from the mail room to sales representative to her current position as business manager. Chrissy, her husband Dan and two boys have lived in Castle Pines North for seven years. The DeMier family joined American Academy (AA) in the fall of 2006. Chrissy has had extensive involvement with the school, primarily through her various roles on the American Academy Parent Teacher Organization (AAPTO) including two years as President.


Shaylee Holland, Secretary
Shaylee Holland
Shaylee Holland has both a Finance degree from Northern Arizona University and a law degree from Pepperdine University School of Law. As a result of her experience as a litigator and in-house counsel, Shaylee’s law practice specializes in advising and structuring start-up companies during their formation. Shaylee also has extensive experience as a board member and counselor of not-for-profit organizations. Shaylee and her husband have 3 children and have lived in Colorado since 2002.


Adil Khan, Director
Adil Khan
Adil is the president and CEO of Amplidyne, Inc., a technology company based in Colorado. Adil has been in the high technology industry for more than 16 years and most recently served as the President and CFO of Microtech-Tel, Inc. Adil is an adjunct professor at University of Denver, specializing in strategic management and operations management. He is an active member in the education community. He has served as a University of Denver board member and is currently serving as the President of the Board of the Colorado School Resource Center. Adil is married with two children.
Lisa Gillette, Treasurer
Lisa Gillette
Lisa Gillette has served on the American Academy School Accountability Committee for the past two years. At the Parker campus, she has also been very active as a day-to-day volunteer during that time, and looks forward to lending her professional experience in finance, accounting, and risk management to her new position as a director. Lisa has two children at the Parker campus.


Kay Wan, Director
Kay Wan
Kay Wan is originally from the beautiful Pacific NW town of Portland, Oregon. After receiving her bachelors degree in Communications-Broadcast Journalism, she worked for television news stations in Portland, Seattle, Las Vegas and Denver. Kay has covered many national stories as a field producer for ABC News, Good Morning America, CNN and FOX Newschannel. Kay and her husband, RJ, moved to Parker, Colorado in 1999. They have two children. They joined the American Acadmey family in the inaugural year of the Parker campus.
Michelle Slovensky, Director
Chad King
Michelle is the Intelligent Campus Program Manager at the Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). As a strategic and technical leader, she implements energy, natural resource, renewable energy systems and high performance building projects that assist both federal government and the energy industry. She is also a spokesperson and educator for the laboratory and as such conducts education workshops for other federal and state agencies, Fortune 500 companies and universities.

Prior to joining the American Academy Board of Directors this spring (she was appointed by the Board of Directors to fill a vacancy left by a previous board member), Michelle served two terms on the American Academy School Accountability Committee (SAC) as the chair. She has enjoyed her experience on the Board of Directors and if given the opportunity, she would like to continue nurturing American Academy's vision and supporting the administration and staff of the school in achieving that vision.

She grew up in the northeast and moved to Colorado in 1995 after attending graduate school at Harvard University. Michelle, her husband George, and her daughter Danika live in Castle Rock.
